There are many things that I am rubbish at in this life. Here are some of them:
- Sports. All of them.
- Remembering to get the washing out of the washing machine.
- Being cold.
- Speaking quietly.
- Using public transport.
- Opening a pack of biscuits and not eating all of them in one go.
- Grocery shopping (see #1)
The list goes on and the older I get, the cooler I am with it. But there are also many things I am good at. And relationships is one of those things. The quality of our lives is determined by the quality of our relationships. Think about it. You can have all the money in the world, the perfect body and total time and financial freedom.
But those things won't pick up the phone in the middle of the night when you're too heartbroken to sleep. Those things won't sit next to you on the sofa and laugh with you til your belly aches and you have to exercise your pelvic floor so you don't pee yourself.
Those things won't remember to text you to wish you good luck the morning of your big presentation at work.
Over the last couple of years, I have built a really solid relationship with myself which has allowed me to build great relationships with my wealth, health, business, and finances. But the relationships that really matter to me are the ones I have with my mates.
They make my heart sing. They don't care that I can't cook. And they accept me for who I am because I accept me for who I am. And so today I sat down and wrote some cards of love and thanks to post (how old school!) to my friends.
Because like everything else in this life, the more energy and focus you put into something, the more you get back.
I call it 'Consciously Creating' and have developed a simple 8 step process to vastly improve ALL relationships in my life - with people, money, health, love... and fundamentally, ME.
